Maxim’s Unsexiest Woman

March 22nd, 2008 admin

I am not a fan of Sarah Jessica Parker. I do not find her particularly attractive. In no way do I find her the unsexiest woman though. And who is Maxim magazine to make this sort of declaration? Nevermind the fact that it is just mean!

I would like to see photos of all the schmucks that work there first. I suspect that they are not entirely sexy themselves.

Unbelievable: Bill Maher being sexist

March 22nd, 2008 admin

I used to like Bill Maher. Note that I say that in the past tense. You see, I was perusing the Feministing site today. And I came across a recent piece on Bill Maher and his sexist comments. You can find the complete story here. But be forewarned that it will leave a bad taste in your mouth.

Romance novels - I just don’t get it

March 22nd, 2008 admin

I do not understand the appeal of romance novels. Really, I don’t. I mean, they set up this false sense of relationships for women. And then women get this idea in their head of what it will be like. So then what happens when they realize that real life is not like romance novels? A heck of a lot of disappointment, I suspect. Of course, I have only ever read one romance novel. But one is more than enough.

How does it happen?

How is it that men come to think they can discriminate against women?

How are these men raised that makes them think that women are less than men?

I really want to know this. See, one of my brothers thinks that men are better than women. And it was not that way in my home growing up. So I have to wonder where it came from. It is very puzzling.

Politics - gender or race

March 21st, 2008 admin

A lot of the news is about politics these days. Most of the news recently has been about Obama’s race speech. That’s all good and well. But I can’t help but scoff. It is not as if Hillary has gotten a free ride over her life because she is white. She is still a woman. And, whether Obama or anyone else wants to admit it, women still face discrimination.

Women’s History Month - a history

Women’s History Month as you know is this month. It got its start with International Women’s Day back in 1911.

In 1978, Women’s History Week was introduced. By 1981, Congress recognized the week. And in 1987, Congress expanded Women’s History Week to Women’s History Month. And each year month has a theme.

The theme of National Women’s History Month for the year 2008 is visionary female artists. Honorees will be selected based on their impact in various medias from pottery to sculpture to any type of modern art.

The Amazing Adventures of Diet Girl

March 20th, 2008 admin

I came across a really fun blog today. It is called the Amazing Adventures of Diet Girl. And the author of the blog has also written a book by the same name.

It is a weight loss focused blog. I normally would not link to something that is so stereotypical for women. But it is a good read, so check it out if you are interested in health/fitness blogs.
