Who doesn’t love Wimbledon?
I admit that I have never been to a Wimbledon tennis tournament and that is a shame. I enjoy tennis. And do you know why I enjoy tennis? Tennis seems to be the only sport where there is some semblance of equality between the genders. If you think about it, there just might even be more famous women tennis players than there are men tennis players. And that is something right there! With that fact alone, it should make all of us want to go right out and snatch up some great Wimbledon tickets so that we can watch those women play! In fact, tennis legend Martina Navrátilová has played the most matches of anyone at Wimbledon with a whopping 326 matches. The highest for men is Jean Borotra at 223 matches. See, women dominate at Wimbledon! Too bad the exchange rate is so bad cause it really makes me want to go. But Wimbledon is held in the UK, if you did not know. It is held in London each summer. Usually it happens in late June or early July. And this year they are going on from June 23 to July 6, 2008. Defending champions to watch this year are for men’s singles - Roger Federer, for women’s singles - Venus Williams, for the men’s doubles - Arnaud Clément / Michaël Llodra, for women’s doubles - Cara Black / Liezel Huber, and for mixed doubles - Jelena Janković / Jamie Murray. So get ready for it this summer!
