This week is the first VP debate. You can catch Sarah Palin and Joe Biden debating this Thursday. It should prove to be an interesting debate. I can’t wait to see how Palin fares in the debate. And I am also interested in seeing how she is treated. Both during the debate and afterwards. You know, see if the sexism that plagued Hillary is still around for Palin.
Have you been paying attention to the political news of late? Not surprisingly Palin is receiving some of the same treatment that Hillary was getting. Sexism is what I am talking about here. It’s been all in the news. Even Campbell Brown talked about it on CNN, (clip here). What I find interesting is that no one called for it to stop when it was happening to Hillary.
With Hillary Clinton out of the race, you might be wondering about women’s issues. If you are, not to worry. They are being discussed. As part of the Women’s week of Action by the Obama Campaign, Hillary and Joe discussed issues that matter to women and their families in this critical election and what you can do to get involved now to make a difference.
Hillary has been a champion throughout her life on issues like protecting a woman’s right to choose, fighting for Equal Pay for Equal Work, helping to create and expand the Family Medical Leave Act, and ensuring health care for children and families. These are just some of the important issues Hillary and Joe discussed.
Did you see this news item last week? I saw it on the Hillary Clinton RSS feed that I signed up for from her site.
Announcing Hillary’s endorsement of two women legislators – Congresswoman Betty Sutton and Vermont Speaker Gaye Symington.
After two wonderful campaign events this weekend for Senators Barack Obama and Joe Biden in Ohio, Hillary was on the road with Congresswoman Betty Sutton. Running for reelection in Ohio’s 13th Congressional District, Congresswoman Sutton’s experience as a labor lawyer and in three elective offices has earned her the reputation as an independent leader as well as a tenacious advocate for the people of Ohio.
“The people of Ohio’s 13th Congressional District have experienced firsthand Congresswoman Sutton’s unfailing commitment to expanding economic opportunities and creating jobs, her dedication to working families in Ohio and across this nation, and her hard work on behalf of veterans and brave soldiers,” Hillary Clinton said. “We need to keep representatives like Betty in Washington to keep up the hard fight for America’s hard-working families.”
Hillary is working hard to help elect Democrats. Like Congresswoman Sutton, Speaker Symington will work to bring the change Vermonters need after eight years of the Bush Administration. Speaker Symington has served in the Vermont House of Representatives for 12 years and has served in the role as Speaker since 2005.
“President Obama and Democrats in Congress will need strong leaders from across the country as we fight to bring about the positive change hardworking American families need. Gaye Symington is just the type of leader we need to help us break with the failed Bush policies that have hurt Vermonters for the past eight years,†said Clinton. “Gaye has a proven track record of working on the issues that I have long championed – universal healthcare, equal rights for women and minorities, providing quality education for all of our children, and strengthening our middle class.”
Apparently, food makers like Hershey Co. and General Mills just aren’t making enough money off you. So, they’re doing something about it. They are changing the ingredients in the foods they sell you. They are using cheaper things – like vegetable oil instead of cocoa butter in chocolate and dairy substitutes in dairy products. And they aren’t telling you about. Instead they are raising prices. And they are telling you it is because of price of commodities are rising. Then they are laughing all the way to the bank. Read Food Makers Scrimp on Ingredients In an Effort to Fatten Their Profits.
Surely you have heard about this by now. But in case you missed it, Saturday was the season premiere of SNL. It was hosted my Michael Phelps. But that is not the big news story here. Tina Fey was also on SNL. She was playing Sarah Palin in a sketch. And she looked so much like her it was scary!
If you missed the clip, it is on the NBC site now. So check out Fey does Palin.
It seems that the Havens Corners Church in Blacklick, Ohio is a fan of Katy Perry. In fact, they used a lyric from her hit song on their church sign. The sign read “I kissed a girl and I liked it.” Just like in Perry’s song. Then they added their own line to it. The line added was “Then I went to hell.” Wow. More info on 365gay.
In case you missed it, Britney was back on the VMA’s last night. It was rumored for a while that she would be. Then her people insisted she would not be. And then it was confirmed that she would be there. Only she would not be performing. Apparently, her spot was opening it again. And it was a blink and you miss it type of performance.
Last night Sarah Palin delivered her VP speech at the Republican convention in Minneapolis. Sadly, I only caught a little bit of the end of it. However, there are plenty of news stories on her performance. Some are claiming that she is clearly ready for the VP job. Some are claiming that she was sarcastic and offered no substance. Did you see her speech? What were your thoughts?
