Well, looks like Women’s Murder Club star Angie Harmon has given birth. It is kid number three. And like the other two, this one is a girl. So, no boys for Jason Sehorn yet! This baby is named Emery Hope Sehorn. It will join sisters Finley Faith, 5, and Avery Grace, 3. Congrats to all!

I have been reading a lot about the economy lately. Sure things are bad. But for people starting businesses things are good. That means this is a great time for women to get started with those business ideas! And working for yourself is a great way to make sure you do not get downsized or laid off! And hey, you can always start a part time biz while you are working a “real job.” And with the low start up cost of an online business it is pretty easy to get started. So, what are you waiting for?

It seems to me that a lot of women out there are not eating right. I mean think about it. Think of all the moms out there that are doing a million things at once. I bet they are not taking time to make sure that they are eating the essential nutrients you should be eating. Sure, I bet they are making sure their kids are eating right. But what about them?
And what about people that are workaholics? They are so busy working that they eat what is fast. And that is not what is always healthy!

Here is something interesting. A few days ago I was reading about how the same sex marriage issue was a hot one in New York. And in something I read it was suggested it would be the next state to pass it. But apparently not. I saw this on the Advocate site.
New York state senate Democrats may have secured control of their chamber by bargaining away marriage equality on Thursday.
Since Election Day, when Democrats won a two-seat majority in the chamber after decades of Republican rule, three conservative members of the caucus had threatened to defect to the GOP unless they received more power. But a handshake deal in New York City apparently gave the holdouts what they wanted, the New York Times reports. For one, senator Ruben Diaz Sr. of the Bronx, the concessions may have included postponing a vote on marriage equality until 2010 at the earliest, according to the paper.
New York assembly member Daniel J. O’Donnell, who is gay and carried a same-sex marriage bill that passed his chamber in 2007, told the Times that he expects momentum to continue for marriage equality regardless of what transpired. “All civil rights movements have moments where they move forward, and moments of perceived setbacks,” O’Donnell, who represents Manhattan, told the paper. “If in fact our civil rights were bargained away, that’s deplorable. But in the end, I think justice and fairness will prevail.”
Alan Van Capelle, head of Empire State Pride Agenda, said he and his team were awaiting more details about the deal. ”We would expect that any rumors that marriage equality was somehow a part of this deal are just that — rumors,” Van Capelle said in a statement. But, he cautioned, “civil rights should never be a bargaining chip in any political leadership battle, and we would be outraged if the issue of marriage equality was even part of the discussions.”
A same-sex marriage bill has yet to pass New York’s senate. (The Advocate)

Here is something scary. Apparently use of talcum powder has been linked to ovarian cancer.
According to a study published in the Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention journal, women who use talcum powder around their genital areas are 40% more likely to develop ovarian cancer. 3,000 women were analyzed in the study. The risk of ovarian cancer for those who used talcum powder once a week was found to be 36%, while those using it every day the risk went up to 41%.
Yikes.
You can read more about the distubing findings of talcum powder and cancer at Talcum powder as dangerous as asbestos.

As you know, Hillary Clinton was nominated for the Secretary of State position yesterday.
Hillary gave the following remarks yesterday morning at a press conference announcing her nomination to be Secretary of State.
Mr. President-Elect, thank you for this honor. If confirmed, I will give this assignment, your administration and our country my all.
I also want to thank my fellow New Yorkers, who have for eight years given me the joy of a job I love, with the opportunity to work on issues I care about deeply, in a state that I cherish. And you’ve also helped prepare me well for this new role. After all, New Yorkers aren’t afraid to speak their minds, and do so in every language.
Leaving the Senate is very difficult for me, but during the last few weeks, I thought often of our troops, serving bravely under difficult circumstances in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere. I thought of those other Americans in our Foreign and Civil Services, working hard to promote and protect our interests around the world. And I thought of the daunting tasks ahead for our country: an economy that is reeling, a climate that is warming, and, as we saw with the horrible events in Mumbai, threats that are relentless.
The fate of our nation and the future of our children will be forged in the crucible of these global challenges. America cannot solve these crises without the world, and the world cannot solve them without America. By electing Barack Obama our next president, the American people have demanded not just a new direction at home but a new effort to renew America’s standing in the world as a force for positive change.
We know our security, our values, and our interests cannot be protected and advanced by force alone, nor, indeed, by Americans alone. We must pursue vigorous diplomacy using all the tools we can muster to build a future with more partners and fewer adversaries, more opportunities and fewer dangers, for all who seek freedom, peace and prosperity.
America is a place founded on the idea that everyone should have the right to live up to his or her God-given potential, and it is that same ideal that must guide America’s purpose in the world today. And while we are determined to defend our freedoms and liberties at all costs, we also reach out to the world again, seeking common cause and higher ground.
And so I believe the best way to continue serving my country is to join President-elect Obama, Vice President-elect Biden, the leaders here and the dedicated public servants of the State Department on behalf of our nation at this defining moment.
President Kennedy once said that engaging the world to meet the threats we face was the greatest adventure of our century.
Well, Mr. President-elect, I am proud to join you on what will be a difficult and exciting adventure in this new century. And may God bless you and all who serve with you and our great country.

Here is some sad news. Seems that Marg Helgenberger and her husband separated after 19 years. You likely know Marg from the hit show CSI. Sad news for Marg and her family. The couple has an 18 year old son together. Best of luck to all of them.

On my way to work this morning I was listening to NPR. They had live coverage of the press conference in Chicago that Obama was doing. It was the press conference where he announced Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State. He got a lot of questions about her appointment based on his comments during the primary. The press wanted to know why he repeatedly attacked her foreign policy experience during the primary but now was giving her this job. He never really answered the question. And without saying it in so many words, he admitted that his jabs during the primaries were just rheotoric.
