Looks like actress Charlize Theron has taken on a new role. She will hbe working with the United Nations to help battered women. She is the newest U.N. Messenger of Peace. Theron wants to send a strong message that violence against women and girls is not acceptable. She has joined the campaign dubbed “UNite to End Violence against Women.” This campaign actually was launched in February.
Worldwide, the U.N. says one of every five women will be a victim of rape or attempted rape at some point in their lifetime, and at least one of every three women is likely to be beaten, coerced into sex or abused in some other way.

I was stuck by a story on Yahoo about Kanye West and some comments he made. The man seems like a total douche. Apparently he took some verbal shots at Justin Timberlake. And whether you like JT or not, you can’t deny that he is insanely talented. Kanye went on to call himself “the voice of this generation.” Riiiight. Cocky much?

There are few television shows on the major networks that are women-centric. And when there are it seems like they do not last too long. Remember Women’s Murder Club from last season? Well, one of this season’s casualties is Lipstick Jungle. The Brooke Shields fronted show was canceled yesterday. And it was still not clear whether all the episodes that have been shot for the series will be used.

Tina Fey is done with her appearance as Sarah Palin on SNL. And Amy Poehler is off to have kids. So that leaves SNL down some women. They have added two new women to the mix. They have added Abby Elliott and Michaela Watkins to the cast. Elliott and Watkins will make their debuts this weekend.

There is a new interview with Lindsay Lohan. And, well, it is kind of odd. Here is the part I want to point out:
While Samantha is the first woman Lindsay has admitted to dating publicly, when asked if she had previously “been with a girl” by Harper’s, the actress replied, “I don’t know, maybe.”
Lindsay said she does not consider herself a lesbian, but as for whether she thinks of herself as bisexual, she told the magazine, “maybe.”
“I don’t want to classify myself,” she continued. “First of all, you never know what’s going to happen — tomorrow, in a month, a year from now, five years from now. I appreciate people, and it doesn’t matter who they are, and I feel blessed to be able to feel comfortable enough with myself that I can say that.”
Hrm.
#1 – “Maybe” she’s been with a girl before? As in before Sam Ronson? There is no maybe, unless we are talking about a tranny.
#2 – Not a lesbian, even though she has “maybe” been with other girls?
#3 – Translation: I don’t want to hurt my career by being labeled gay.

A lot of sites ran with the story that Megan Fox had been cast in the Wonder Woman movie. Not so. Apparently this was just a hoax of an overzealous fanboy or fangirl. Seems a website appeared that unveiled Fox as Wonder Woman. It also feature logos of all of the companies involved in the movie. In short, it appeared legit. What it was however was fancy Photoshop skills. I say, Thank Goodness! Megan Fox could never pull off Wonder Woman! Charisma Carpenter is the way to go with this one. I think she was born to play Wonder Woman.

Well, there she was. Sarah Palin was indeed on SNL this weekend. She appeared twice on the show. She was in the opening and delivered the signature line. She also appeared during ‘Weekend Update.’ I looked on the web after her performance. And, well, I was shocked to see what was being said about it. People were saying what a disaster it was.
I thought she was great on it. I mean, she came on the show knowing that she was the butt of the joke. And she still came on the show. That shows incredible class.
Hrm, interesting that Hillary and Palin have both been on SNL even though they were the butt of jokes. But there has been no sign of the men of politics on SNL. Interesting, yes?

Here is something interesting. I am certain that you have heard about Tina Fey being on SNL this season. She has been appearing on SNL in guest appearances as VP candidate Sarah Palin. And it has been ratings gold for SNL. Well, now there is word that Sarah Palin will appear on SNL as Tina Fey! In fact, Lorne Michaels said Sarah Palin will appear as Tina Fey on the late-night comedy hour, “all in due time.” Can’t wait for that!

Wow, did you hear the Dancing with the Stars news? Two-time Olympic gold medalist Misty May-Treanor had to drop out of DWTS. Why? Because she had a freak accident that resulted in a ruptured Achilles tendon. Ouchie! She had to go into surgery. And then she had 9 months of rehabilitation to look forward to. That is a major bummer for her.
