The state of Colorado is dropping its minimum wage. Why? Because it is tied to the consumer price index. And since the CPI went down the minimum wage is going down. Fortunately for those minimum wage workers it is only $0.03 an hour. At 40 hrs a week all year long that is just over $62 in a year.
Karine Ruby has died in a climbing accident. She is a former Olympic snowboarding champion. She was in France on Mont Blanc. She was training to be a mountain guide. That is how she had the accident. More news on Yahoo.
Here is something interesting. Book Business magazine has released a list of the top 50 women in the publishing industry. For some reason, this is the first of such a list. It is full of high ranking women in the industry. They each offer a great tip to the readers in the article. Check it out here.
Well, this was a long time coming. Wasn’t it? This is great news for the family. Of course, this was for the murder of his 3rd wife. So what about all the others he likely killed? Let’s just hope that he goes to jail for this one and can’t kill any more of his wives.

Whoa! Did you see this news? An airplane landed in the Hudson River today! It was taking off from LGA. But then for some reason the take off failed. The result was the plane in the river. And 150 people in that icy cold water! Not my idea of a good time right there!
Wow, if this isn’t something! A woman in Texas who is 92 years old was determined to vote in today’s election. Due to a stroke, she needs a feeding tube and can’t walk. But she got to vote! She arrived in an ambulance and was able to vote in it. You can read more about her at Determined Texas woman, 92, votes in ambulance.
A little over a week ago the LA Times did an article on the LAPD and shoddy fingerprint work that led to the prosecution of innocent people. A few days after that was another story involving the incompetence of the LAPD. According to the article, the LAPD’s DNA unit has allowed at least 7,000 sexual assault test kits to go unopened. As if that is not insulting enough to the victims, with at least 217 of those cases (the exact number is unknown at this time) the kits have been left to sit for so long that the 10-year statute of limitations has expired. That means that those assailants cannot be prosecuted.
LAPD Chief William Bratton cites the backlog due to not enough money, and even though the city has approved the addition of 16 criminalists, there is still no funding. As it is now, the division can’t keep up with the current DNA case demand, 80 percent of which are rapes.
Today’s news story is that the LAPD is vowing to begin processing this backlog, starting with the oldest first to try to keep within the statute of limitations. More of this at LA Daily Breeze.
There has been a lot on the news lately regarding the economy. If you have been paying attention then you noticed that these are some crazy financial times. I tell ya, it scares me. And it really makes me wish that Hillary Clinton was the Democratic nominee. I wouldn’t be so worried if I knew a Clinton was on the way to clean up the mess. Instead, she is on the sidelines. Tragic.
There is a lot of buzz on the web about MMA’s Gina Carano. There was a fight tonight. It was Gina Carano vs. Kelly Kobold. And she had to get nude three times to make the 141 weight limit.
She weighed in at 142.75 pounds on her first attempt. After removing all of her clothes, a towel-covered Carano weighed in a second time at 142.5 pounds. On her third attempt Carano weighed 141 pounds. Of course men are salivating all over the web about this story. There are even videos and .gifs of someone dropping one of the towels. Tell me that wasn’t on purpose!
